Mother's momento and now mine

My name tag from the 1st day of school in
1951.

My teacher was Mrs. Harris. She was
a good teacher and a patient person. I remember
being so scared. I was away from home and the protection and presence of my dear sweet mother for the first time in my life. I cried, cried, and cried some more until finally one day Mrs Harris ran out of patience, guess I had pushed her to the limits. She took me by the shoulder and shook the stuffing out of me. Amazingly my tears dried up and I learned to love her and school.

Thank God for good, patient school teachers that have a heart for little children.

Mother's momento

At Mother's death this Victorian tag was found among her treasured momentos along with letters from her earlier years. Now this one is in my care to preserve it. Other things found was her children's handmade cards, name tags, etc. These items were in her "treasure chest". As children we were never allowed to look inside this chest. She said it wasn't any of our business what was inside. Even though the chest was not locked, we knew better than to plunder through it.
